The Royal Society of St George was founded in 1894 and has been England’s premier patriotic organization, promoting and celebrating the English way of life. The Society organizes a wide variety of events, from marking significant moments in history to enjoying English food and drink. We also welcome those from all parts of Britain and elsewhere who share our interest in England to join as full members. We hold social events throughout the year to celebrate our English heritage, culture and customs.
We are strong supporters of Canada’s links with England such as our parliamentary democracy, common law, language, freedoms, business structures, and especially our common allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen, who is our Society’s patron and the Head of State of both the United Kingdom and Canada.
Our B.C. Branch was originally founded over 100 years ago, and was re-activated in 1987. We maintain links with other British societies throughout Canada and around the world. Our Patron: HM The Queen. Queen Victoria was the Society’s first Royal Patron and we have since enjoyed the Patronage of every reigning monarch. In 1963 the Queen bestowed a notable honour by granting the Society its own Royal Charter.
